The LPA International Forensics Institute
A School of Forensic Criminology for Homicide Studies

Criminology is the study of criminals and the crimes they commit. Forensic criminology is the application of science to law to study criminals to explain their crimes, predict it, and prevent it. The LPAIFI School of Forensic Criminology for Homicide Studies is a scientific approach that includes the scientific method to examine the various behavioral pattern of homicide offenders and homicide victims to recognize which methods, tools, and investigative strategies are best to select for use on a per-case basis to minimize likelihood of stagnation and maximize likelihood of success. Forensic criminology as it related to homicide studies respond to investigation and legal-based questions with the expectation that those findings will be used in a court of law. Forensic criminology is the best of all worlds because it blends sociological, behavioral, and forensic science into one, well organized, mosaic of interrelated moving parts. Forensic criminology is not just about crime scene investigation, rather, it is about victim and offender characteristics, environment, culture, biology, forensic psychology, crime scene reconstruction, the sub-disciplines of forensic science, general criminal investigation, victimology, suspectology, statement analysis, the scientific method, all built upon a broad foundation of practical experience, and more

Accreditation

The LPAIFI is Accredited

Accreditation is very important to LPA. Not all states nor associations offer accreditation, but we have checked with all states and the largest, most relevant associations regardless. Many of our ground courses are accredited, we are working hard to get our online courses accredited too... Now that we have expanded to include so many new great instructors, we will continue to work for you to get more of our courses accredited. Most of the time, if law enforcement officers submit their certificates of attendance to their state P.O.S.T. or accrediting agency, the agency will have information for the officer about possible credit.

Individual State Approval:

We are proud that all of our courses are approved for credit by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Arizona, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, North Dakota, Tennessee, and West Virginia. However, not all states (P.O.S.T.s) offer continual approval for con-ed classes, rather, attendees submit certificates to their state on their own behalf for credit. We are also proud that seven of our courses are approved by the South Carolina Justice Academy as well. We are currently seeking con-ed credit approval for our online courses.

ABMDI Approval:

We are proud to have seven of our courses ABMDI approved. The ABMDI will only approve courses specifically relating to death investigation ground and online for continuing education credit. We will submit every syllabus, but it is up to them what they can approve.

IAI Approval:

We are proud to have seven of our ground courses IAI approved for use on certification applications. Due to covid, the LPAIFI is submitting any IAI certification topic related Live Webinars to the IAI for approval for re-certification.
