Learn how to document projectile defects (vertical and azimuths) in consideration of the target surface characteristics of the most common substrates. Cost of Course Materials for Hands-On not included in Tuition price.
Although shooting incidents are one of the most common types of scenes crime scene investigators encounter, many CSIs and detectives are unaware of the necessary steps required to accurately document and/or process shooting incident scenes towards creating a permanent record of the incident. This course introduces the most basic concepts of shooting incident documentation towards building a solid foundation for future courses in this subject.
CSIs, detectives, investigators, and others involved in identifying, documenting, collecting, and preserving physical evidence who are interested in honing in their skills and understanding of shooting incident documentation and reconstruction should take this course. It is a great refresher for the seasoned investigator too!
For Affiliates (students) who wish to participate in the Hands-On portion of the course, the following materials are required for purchase as a kit from Laura Pettler & Associates or on one’s own.
Our institute is not just any school because it is set up like a university for continuing education. Our courses are not just haphazardly thrown together. Rather all our courses track back to our six Program Outcomes:
Our course objectives are linked all of the Program Outcomes:

Yes, yes, and no. Why? Because some of the essay questions are based on the material contained within. Discussion is optional, but if you have time don't miss out on such a great learning experience as watching slideshows and videos. By the same token, Discussion is a great way to meet other people in your class, ask questions about anything that comes to mind, and to engage with your instructor. Networking is power.
Instructors are active in the LPAIFI Online Monday through Friday at least three of the five days. Instructors are not available on weekends. To contact your instructor, use the Course Email Tool in the right hand corner of the course that is located between your account icon and the Discuss icon. Instructors typically respond to student emails within 48 hours.
